Mmm I can do one better, change capslock into control :>

Put the following lines into .xmodmaprc

!
! Swap Caps_Lock and Control_L
!
remove Lock = Caps_Lock
remove Control = Control_L
keysym Control_L = Control_L
keysym Caps_Lock = Control_L
add Lock = Caps_Lock
add Control = Control_L

And then run xmodmap in your .xsession

Of course this only works in X, and I could have left out some of the flags
needed for xmodmap. 

Changing the config to just disable CapsLock is left as an exercise for the user.
