Re: [SLUG] Recommendations - Laptop / Notebook Running Linux (RH62)

Gday

I have a Dell Inspiron 3700 running RH6.2 which was upgraded from 6.1.
Works like a dream ! Dell released drivers for the 10/100 3com network
card and the funky on-board sound.

I did have to downgrade XFree86 from 3.3.6 to 3.3.5 becasue it had
issues with the screen.

Its got a 14.1 inch screen that runs in only 1024X768.

One other nice note is that my HDD's bearing dropped and i just about
got industrial deafness from listening to the hard drive spin for a few
days until i rang Dell on the thursday arvo and told them my HDD is
stuffed they did a few peliminary tests (ie take out the HDD, start up
the machine) and confirmed it was stuffed and the VERY NEXT DAY at about
10:30 am i had a brand new HDD on my doorstep and 10 working days to
swap them over and send the faulty one back.

By All accounts, very professional.
