Re: [SLUG] authoritive nameservers

What you will probably find is that: there was a problem with your zone file
when named tried to load it. If named has a problem loading the zone file, then
it will not return an authoritative reply.

The answer is to start named with a debug level of greater than the default
zero, I have found that level one is usually enough to find problems with the
zone file. When you have a non zero debug level, two file are created (for the
latest bind):
 	/var/named/named.run
	/etc/named.run
/etc/named.run has the debug output from start up. You can see where it failed
in the loading here. You have to look hard becasue the problem can usually
be a missin dot in you zone file, which appends the default zone to your
strings and can be hard torecognise.

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The named.run files can fill up your hard drive if you are not carefull.

The other possibility is the named.conf file, if you want I can send you a copy
of my working named.conf and zone files fro my small network here
