[SLUG] Redhat Wierdness

Here's one that has me stumped.

I've just blown away an EvilWare/NT server and installed Redhat 6.0, only
because I don't have the 6.2 CD here.

Initially I started with Mandrake, then SuSE 6.3 (used on the desktop with
no problems), then the Mrs got me a copy of Macmillan, and now Redhat, and
they ALL have the same problem.

The server is a P200, 128Mb RAM, 1 x 13gb and 1 x 6.4gb drives, SCSI card
with 24Gb DAT attached. Nothing special (all right, maybe the DAT is, but
it was FREE !!). The video card is a Matrox Millennium II 8Mb and has the
"Rainbow Runner" video capture daughter board (somply haven't had time to
remove it).

Whenever I start X, I get screen corruption. Going back to text mode, I get
vertical dotted lines and the characters are "broken" - i.e. pixels
missing, etc.

Firstly I thought the Video RAM was at fault, so I did some fairly
intensive testing on it, and it is fine. It appears (to me) to be something
in the way Linux is driving this card. While I could accept this if the
problem was in graphics mode only (i.e. X), it's happening in TEXT mode as
well.

Anyone have any ideas (trying another video card is a post-Mothers Day
project).

Jon
