RE: [SLUG] IBM App Dev Kit for inux

Yeh!! Yeh!!
Good isn't it. I am a commercial developer of these IBM s/w for yonks and
when IBM announced this, I could not believe it.

It is a great package. Come June/July it will be even better with the
anticipated release of WebSphere 3.x on Linux and VAJ Enterprise.
Now, with that goes all my reasons to keep a NT/2000 machine alive !!!

What do you need to know ?

WebSphere - An all Java application server that can serve out servlets and
JSP's. Currently the Linux version is at 2.03 which is a lower level.

IBM HttpServer - Apache rebadged, with the addition of SSL support and the
addition of a web based GUI administration for Apache. Very good.

VAJ - Though only a technology demonstrator on Linux, it is remarkably
stable and faster than the NT version.

DB2 - Need I say anything.... DB2 has been around for >20years and it is the
same engine from palm pilots to that big iron box running os/390. Runs like
clockwork on Linux.

Domino - Server to run all those notes apps and forms.

IBM JDK - This JDK is blazingly fast compared to other on Linux.
