[SLUG] Presidents report
AGM this Friday at the SLUG meeting. Should be short, to make it
shorter, here's the presidents report.
The past year has seen a number of achievements by SLUG.
We participated in PCIT 1999, and in the Linux Expo 2000.
We incorporated, and now have a paid membership of over 150, and
email list participants of over 500.
We participated in CALU - Conference of Australian Linux Users.
We held install fests, config fests and three special fests,
secure, video and sound.
All this was achieved through the enormous efforts of many volunteers.
The volunteers who turned up to speak, to help, to demonstrate.
I especially want to thank those volunteers who helped organize, who
took on the responsibility, the burden, for these events.
I am almost embarrassed to name people, as I am sure to overlook
someone. Firstly Grahame Kelly for many meetings and the two expos.
Bill Simpson-Young for the three fests. Terry Collins, Mike Lake and
Ken Cardwell for install and config fests.
This coming year looks to have a brighter and bigger future for
Linux and for SLUG.
Lets work together to bring our favourite operating system to
wider attention, help each other out, and have fun.
Jamie
