[SLUG] Simple Newbie Questions
Hello .. just a few things i've been thinking about:
Say I would like to make a script to run "dhclient eth0" for Optushome
(since i'm too scared to do that rc.d stuff - i froze things up last time :)
..
Uhmm .. this is what i'd be thinking
make a script called "oh" and enter into it "dhclient eth0",
chmod +x oh,
copy it to the /bin directory so that i'd be in a path (i know, that's what
the email's for) :)
then just run oh whenever i need it ..
So what's the right way of doing such a thing ? For example, I know the /bin
thing can't be the right way to do it .. do most people make their own
script dir and add it the their path variable ? Or is that what /etc/ or
/var is for (Gee .. I dunno) :)
What about a perl script ? IS that how most people make "perl myperl1" into
a "program" ? With a shell script that says "perl perl1" ?
Also in Internet Explorer (Windows) the shortcut to open a link in a new
window is SHIFT + CLICK, in Netscape for Linux it says
"Open Link in New Window Button 2"
What does this mean, especially "button 2" ? Is there a SHIFT CLICK type
shortcut I can use here ?
Thanks guys ! :)
Regards, Matt
