hi i had the same problem 
solution - use aarnet
http://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/staroffice/5.2/linux/
if u r on O@nospam.H u get super speeds > 200-400kbps as it is hosted my optus
and it is Australian.

the problem is i got the 90 odd meg file it is a .bin so i assume it is a cd
image or somthing but i dont have a cd writer accible from my pc.  can i mount
it the same way as an iso??

i didnt use samba as the lose98se kept giving me protocol negotation failed 
and i didnt have time to work it out as it was a rush job.
