[SLUG] Faxing with Linux

I played with faxing under Linux about a couple of years ago and had it
working quite successfully, both in and out.

The downside was that when I created the document under the Borg's Word it
was simple to get it sent to the fax software on the Linux box as there
was a small TSR that ran on the Borg box that was activated by Windows
Messaging and popped up a window to get the outgoing fax number and put it
into the Linux print spool so that the Linux software could use it.  I
never could get that sort of thing after I decided to abandon the Borg in
favour of Staroffice.

The problem lies in getting the outgoing phone number into the print spool
data stream.

Is anyone doing this successfully, and how?  The solution HAS to be naive
user friendly, ie. graphical, not command line.
