A samba client to replicate your structure may be a possibility.

   man smbclient 

Check the c,x and g options for incremental and tar extract options.
I know Samba can be setup to talk to NT, I'm not too sure about Novell.
I think Novell supports NT clients, so smbclient should work fine.
