Target 8? Are you sure of this.

AFAIK, they don't make fast Ultra Wide SCSI CD's - which means the device
numbers are limited to being from 0 to 7 - and you usually can't use 7,
because that's where the SCSI card is.

If you're dead sure it's SCSI ID 8, then you'll most likely have to use
mknod and create yourself a device for it - looks like it should be major
11, minor 8 - if it follows the other /dev/scd devices.
