[SLUG] Ethernet dropouts..
Hi all,
(I never get bored with these damn problems..)
I have 3 Ethernet cards in my Linux server which are all Realtek 8029 cards.
I don't know if these cards have problems under linux or not but I'm
starting to wonder.
eth0 goes to my local LAN.
eth1 goes to our clients upstairs.
eth2 goes to the Internet via a router.
Occasionally (and lately it's been frequent) I have users who tell me their
X sessions have dropped out but no other users were effected and effects
just 1 user at a time.
Lately it's been happening about 2 or more users in one hit who lose all
their sessions at the same time including straight telnet sessions.
We are (unfortuanately) still running 10Base2 to the users and 10BaseT for
the servers and myself. Now even my machine has started to lose sessions too
and previously never did. Is there a way to find out how and why these
sessions are dropped? Is it just a matter of eliminate a possible cause one
at a time and probably start at the ethernet card?
Any ideas on what I could do to try and determine what's going on?
thanks,
George Vieira
