[SLUG] Ufs filesystem read-only in Linux
Sluggers,
Is there and option to the mount command that will allow me to
mount a ufs filesystem (from a sun box) in read/write mode. I
currently have it mounted on my Linux box read-only using
mount -t ufs -o ufstype=sun /dev/sdb1 /mnt
And I'd like to just edit the /mnt/etc/passwd file and fix
a little something.
Why, well funny story really, somebody (not me) edited their
/etc/passwd file on a Sun box and changed the shell for all users
(including root) to /bin/bash. Unfortunately for them /bin/bash
is not on their system --> DOH!
So now they cannot log into the machine. This machine has no
cd-drive and no floppy drive eiher. Even taking it to the OK
prompt with "stop a" and booting single user doesn't work cause
it asks for the root password and the supposedly correct passwd
still doesn't let them in. oops!
So any suggestions welcome
Thanks
Pete
