[SLUG] RH Kernel Rebuilding
After upgrading my RH6.1 server from the distribution kernel 2.2.12-20
to 2.2.16 I now have a few queries.
During boot of the new kernel, I got a warning message that the
System.map-2.2.12-20 is invalid.
Looking in /boot I discovered a symbolic link System.map that pointed
to System.map-2.2.12-20. Removal of this cured the bootup error
messages and from an operational point of view, everything appears to
work ok.
I have also noticed that /boot/map seems to have been created at the
first startup of the new kernel.
So, what do you do with a kernel upgrade for the /boot directory ?
Do you need a new System.map, and if you do how is it created ?
What about /boot/module-info that is a symbolic link to
module-info-2.2.12-20 ?
How do I get a new one of those ?
Is there any documentation regarding the 'upgrade' to System.Map and
module-info.
Regards
SK
