You still urn into routing troubles.. You fix this by changing the default
gateway on the laptops to the IP of the router (linux box).

Not sure what you are talking about with proxys and cancel. The gateway and
DNS settings need to be correct to use net access.

That prob won't be broken if you just change the gateway and set up DNS
