How do they connect? I would have suggested intercepting the protocol if
you had a working machine and trying to implement it in Linux.

Ick. Lose your wallet lose your security. No thanks. Smart cards in
addition to passwords or biometric stuff would be useful though.

Right now passwords are far simpler to do ...
