[SLUG] How about a daily faq posting?
Now that we have the Slug Pearls? What do people think about a daily FAQ
posting. Below is one I get for Perl. Bascially each day there is a FAQ
and answer. Its quick to delete and quite often you get a reminder or
learn something more about a forgotten feature (eg cut).
We would need to source the list of FAQs etc.
Anyone interested? I can code it up and send the messages to the list but
don't want to get anyone off side or add to the trafic without people
wanting it.
Maybe we could do it as a seperate list to slug and give something back to
the Linux community? Is there already a Linux one about?

Question:
How do I modify the shadow password file on a Unix system?
If perl was installed correctly, and your shadow library was
written properly, the getpw*() functions described in the perlfunc
manpage should in theory provide (read-only) access to entries in
the shadow password file. To change the file, make a new shadow
password file (the format varies from system to system - see the
passwd(5) manpage for specifics) and use pwd_mkdb(8) to install it
(see the pwd_mkdb(5) manpage for more details).

Where to get this document [the Perl FAQ]
This document is posted regularly to comp.lang.perl.announce and
several other related newsgroups. It is available in a variety of
formats from CPAN in the /CPAN/doc/FAQs/FAQ/ directory, or on the web
at http://www.perl.com/perl/faq/ .
CREDITS
When I first began the Perl FAQ in the late 80s, I never realized it
would have grown to over a hundred pages, nor that Perl would ever
become so popular and widespread. This document could not have been
written without the tremendous help provided by Larry Wall and the
rest of the Perl Porters.
