Re: [SLUG] Job Opportunities in CSG (fwd)

Terry,

Apart from the politics involved, I dont see a major difference between
UNIX (which variant do you mean?) and [GNU/]Linux (which variant *must* I
refer to?). GCC, Perl, tcl/tk, gawk, etc. work on Solaris, GNU/Linux,
DU, etc. If you look at the source code and consider the origins of
the various components under GNU/Linux you may be surprised.

FYI, in the job advertisement where it mentions UNIX that does include
GNU/Linux (despite UNIX being a tm ... rararara). GNU/Linux originated
from and is heavily used in research efforts in universities. So that
should qualify the posting under the 'linux content only' criteria.

Even if it didnt, the posting might be useful to others on the list who
tinker with GNU/Linux and computers in general and wish to pursue a career
in the field. However, if it is stated policy that the keyword 'linux'
must appear in all slug correspondence or some draconian equivalent then
so be it. I will in future refrain from posting, though I have posted
similar job ads in the past on slug, querying the appropriateness of the
content without receiving any complaints.

I hope I am wrong in thinking the Linux crowd are no longer as warm and
inclusive as they once were. Whatever |-)

Warm Regards,
