[SLUG] lpr/postscript problem?

Hi All,

I have a confusing problem printing to a Canon BubbleJet 10e
on my Alpha at home.

1.	cat textfile | lpr -Pbj
produces a page with:
	Error: /invalidfont in findfont
	Operand stack: basefontdict ....
	and lots more garbage....

2. Opening any postscript file (created with the mpage util)
with ghostview produces
exacly the same error message as spewed out by the printer.
Just that the above error message appears in a dialog box.

3. cat postscriptfile | lpr -Pbj
	Identical error.

I have removed the /var/spool/lpd/bj directory and resetup
the printer using the redhat printer tool. All settings are
fine. The tests that one can perform give the following:

In RedHat Print Tool Tests
1. Print ASCII to printer -> error message as above.
2. Print PostScript to printer -> Prints fine all OK
3. Print ASCII direct to printer port (ie not via lpr)
prints fine all OK.

This suggested that something was wrong with my lpr but a
verification via 'rpm -V lpr' showed all OK - no probs.

Now that error above is a postscript error. It should not
appear using cat to send an ASCII file to the printer as in
cat textfile | lpr -Pbj.

Why might I be getting Postscript errors to my printer? I
have done some upgrades since last time I printed anything
but nothing that should affect printing.

Confused.
Mike
