Unfortunately, the debate was termed in such a way that the emacs team
could not possibly win -- the emacs team was trying to say that vi
*was* for newbies --- which of course it isn't. However, Xemacs is a
very good newby editor, which was the point made by the final vi
speaker. So the pro-vi *team* won the debate, by making the point
that vi wasn't as good as emacs.
