[SLUG] Installing BubbleMon

I'm having a few problems with BubbleMon - "ffsssSSS" ! :)

When I try to ./configure the thing it asks me for all this gnomeConf.sh stuff
and Epplets/Applets stuff. I have a pretty standard install of Mandrake 7.1
running and I tried installing Helixcode to give it all the Gnome it wants but
still I get such errors

loading gnome configuration from /usr/local/lib/gnomeConf.sh

as well as ..

/usr/bin/libgtop-config: /usr/lib/libgtopConf.sh: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/libgtop-config: /usr/lib/libgtopConf.sh: No such file or directory

/configure: test: -lt: unary operator expected
./configure: test: =: unary operator expected
./configure: .: filename argument required
.: usage: . filename

What could I be doing wrong here and how could I fix is ? 

Why is it so hard to install a simple thing like bubblemon ? Mozilla
can be "installed" by untarring it and running the ./mozilla binary ! 
How are they different ? Mozilla seems many times more complicated
