Essentially the ASP business model. Been around for a while now. Works well
when you have fast network links.

Since I work for a .com (groan) and this is their model I hear this all 
the time. Not for the foreseeable future do I see a good reason to 
do this for "productivity" software. Stuff is coming out thats runs
natively on Linux which gives you the features you may crave.

Once there are more non-computing devices being used for the Internet
this kind of stuff will be huge. When this will happen is anyone's guess

Yep, all our customers say that too. Make it non-ASP and I'll buy 100 of 'em.
