Yes, in the first instance, but the Dept of (school) education
recovers that money from the general fund allocated to each school.
Schools had no choice in the matter.

In Qld, which has also done this,  schools jacked up and so an
exemption was given to schhols that had Macs!!!

Sadly, this is true (for some).

Just remembered. Down this way, we have a perennial candicate for
state and council elections. Famous quote when asked to sign a
permission note for her son to receive remedial help with his reading
"So what. He doesn't need to know how to do that. He can always get a
job as a horse breaker like his father" I'm sure there are others like
her.

If she knew how to read, she might have read WC Field's maximum about
never appearing in pictures with animals or children. they always
upstage you. The horse looked beautiful on her council election
brochure.
