[SLUG] network is unrechable

I just intall a (full) Caldera 2.3 distribution and I'm traing to
connect a "win98" computer to the Linux one via ethernet.

After configuring all the "required" paramenters, and doing a ping to
the "win98' computer I get network is unrechable error. This is a simple
2 computer network so no router is not  neaded on the eth0 definition.

I know I'm missing some definition but can't figure this one out.
