and it's for linux not solaris, the sparc solaris version would be
more than $800 I would've thought.

of course but if you're buying an ultra5, it's "thrown in" at no
extra cost - which is nice (especially if your work is buying it).

It would also be good for people in a company where other people
use the M$ stuff - run lose95 (eg) on the SunPCI card for M$word
etc for your emailed word files and so on, then solaris for the real
stuff (it supports drag and drop between OSs - actually looks pretty
cool, I'll have to convince them I need one here).

yep - but of course ultra5's are only IDE too!
Anyway it supports an emulated disk - ie. managed through solaris
files (under the M$ stuff and OpenDOS (which it ships with)).
