IRC seems to be experiencing a resurgence. Never to not try out
new things, an IRC server has been setup on slug.

The irc server is irc.slug.org.au and it is part of the OpenProjects
IRC network (www.openprojects.net) which hosts channels related to
subjects such as: #Php, #FreshMeat, #c, #connectiva, #debian, #emacs, 
#freebsd, #linuxaus, #kde-users, #linpeople, #linuxhelp, #perl, #python,
#redhat, #slackware, #sourceforge and many others.

Joining that list is #slug which is where you will find some
other Sluggers, online and waiting to chat. Feel free to take
a look in from time to time.
