You wouldn't even need a bootdisk. Put a network card with bootrom
(etherboot, for instance, http://www.slug.org.au/etherboot/) and load the
floppy image by tftp from the server. At boot time on the client machines,
they get a choice to boot normally, or start the rebuild process. Does
that sound what you are looking for?

You'd still have some scripting to do to build your custom boot floppy
image, using YARD, or Toms RtBt disk, or the Linux Router Project, or
whatever...
