you can also apt-get install putty and test that it doesn't work with
SSHv1. Given that people are either using ssh (which will do v1 and v2
properly) or putty which has problems with v1.

Why not just disable SSHv1 altogether.

Note, I have no problems using public-key auth using ssh or putty.
