Not necessarily *require* mklinux, but it is supported.

YDL is also supported with the monolithic kernel.

mklinux was never integrated with YDL. LinuxPPC might have been, but 
I'm not sure.

mklinux is still just... mklinux. I think it's at, what, DR3 now? I 
have no idea...

LinuxPPC should run on the 601, given that it's a PPC (albeit basically 
a 68K board
with a PPC proc), mklinux most definately should, and YDL *will* if you 
use the monolithic
kernel (which might take some effort).
