If you're interested in cryptography, I suggest you read Cryptonomicon, 
by
Neal Stephenson... great read, and nowhere near as tedious as one would
expect a book about cryptography to be (I love crypto myself, so maybe 
thats
why I didn't find it tedious, but either way).

A little bit math-heavy at times, but not in the grand scheme of 
things. Check
it out.

As for AES... I'd rather use solitaire :\
