I'm more up for the idea that the Matrix is falling apart (see Revolutions
trailer) partly as a result of too many Smith "viruses", but also partly
as a chronic systemic problem caused by too much runtime ... in effect,
the Matrix is BSODing, and we've got rogue elements like Neo and Morpheus
memory-leaking all around the place ... it would explain the bizarre need
for so many incarnations of the Matrix.
Well the Microsoft analogies have got to be tempting. "AI is not perfect;
it suffers from all the difficulties of today's technologies." Of course,
technology != micros~1, but the point is broad and epic (in a Prince
Charles morals lesson kind of way).
