Reminds me of when I was in high school - I wrote a program that zeroed
out the important data structures from the FAT file system without
asking any questions (ie. A "quick" format).

I called it "virus.com" as a joke, but decided not to do anything with
it. One day I accidently gave a disk to a friend and it contained this
program... they ran it out of curiosity and then were dumb-founded when
their computer wouldn't boot again.

Lucky for them they had DoubleSpace or DriveSpace (it was DOS 6 and
Windows 3.1 days then), so it was very easy to recover the whole drive
because it was contained in one contiguous file. Still I was the unlucky
one who wasted several hours getting their data back for them :(
