[ProgSoc] More importantly .. vmware .v. citrix

Has anyone played with VMWare-GSX or ESX on some decent
hardware, and better yet, done some comparisons against win or
meta frame products. We've got some WinFrame boxes that are
souped up something chronic and still run like a wet week in August.

I'm looking at the feasibility of replacing same with VMWare-GSX
running under Linux .. we only need to run a single application
(albeit Oracle Forms - which can be hungrier than Office-XP).

From their web site, the ESX FAQ includes this gem [1] :

] Does ESX Server Run on Linux? On Windows?
] ESX Server runs natively on your server hardware, without a host
] operating system. This allows it to more fully manage the hardware
] resources. For booting and management, it incorporates a console
] operating system that is a customized version of Red Hat Linux 6.2.
] This console operating system may also be used for some administrative
] tasks such as integration and scripting. Applications, however, are
] run in virtual machines, not on the console operating system.

 Cause for concern ?

 Jedd.
