If you don't like what's going on, offer a good argument for your way of 
doing things. If it is superior to the current method of doing things, 
based on all applicable metrics, then you'll probably get your way. 
Just whinging doesn't help matters.

Incidentally, I suspect those who have implemented this policy know a
thing or two about system and network security. They might just have
good reasons for doing things this way. They might not, but stranger
things have happened.
