Is there some clever way that with Linux (or
windows for that matter) that you can get surround sound by using two sound
cards? (or do you just have to get one of those 4 channel s.cards) (Does linux
support 4/5 channel cards?)
Another thing, how does surround sound work? Why
is it better than a pair of head phones? Your ears only have two entry points,
so how does 5 channels achieve a better effect than 2? I can understand it
adding effect if you were moving around, but for the most part (whilst watching
a movie) one is sitting still (well I am anyway).
<community announcement type
thing>
Sony (and someone else ithink) have developed
... SBCD ithink it is? not sure... 5 channel audio on a CD, but with the added
bonus of being backwardly compatible with your old stereo system. Very nice
ithink

the local 'puter shop.... Very Nice.
