Subject: Seeking Web Developer for 3 mths - Georgina McGill

Status:
Dear Des,
thanks for your time this afternoon. As mentioned then, we are looking
for a
web developer with the following skills:
*
ASP
*
DHTML
*
MTS
*
VB
6.0 ( I know components can also be coded in C++ and so
on, but we are wishing to develop a system that is (relatively)
easy to
maintain)
*
SQL
Server 7.0
*
Nice to have - experience with and knowledge of VBA
programming and MS Access 97/2000
*
We
may include XML in the solution
We need this person to help (me) design and implement a new
database
solution for the Pharmacia
(Pharmacia is a global pharmaceutical company)
Medical department.
The current database is actually three Access 97 *.mdb files.
This database records all the medical enquiries that Pharmacia
receives in
relation to its products, and also all reports of 'medical events'. It
is
very important that this database be available to the Medical
department
throughout the working week.
For various reasons we are opting to move to a new design and
architecture
(ASP, MTS and SQL Server 7.0), rather than converting the existing
database
to Access 2000.
There is some urgency associated with this job as the company is
moving to a
new platform (Windows2000/Office2000) and the upgrading process
precludes
using Access 97 on the desktop. The upgrading process has already
started
and is expected to finish by the end of September. Because of this, we
want
someone who will be able to devote themselves 100% to the task as we
want
this new system in place and working before October. The Medical
department
will be moved to the new platform only when the new database system
has
sufficient functionality (ongoing component development for full
functionality can then continue).
Because we don't have a solution fully documented and designed at
this
stage, it is difficult to estimate exactly how long this project will
take.
It could be more than or less than 3 months.
The developer should have their own software (although we have SQL
Server on
the network server, they will at least need the desktop edition). We
are
located in Rydalmere, Sydney. Pharmacia is a very nice company to work
for.
How should we approach this? You could
show them the below document and
leave it up to them to phone me, if that
suits you.
Thanks and regards,
Georgina McGill
