you dont need two modems for two computers to be funtional...might be an 
intresting introduction into networking...

just need two 10/100 ethernet card for aprox $10 each (from shops near uni [top 
floor of bld opposite Stgeorge bank near market city]) and a lenght of cross 
over cable $1-$2/per metre (blue one with RJ 12? conector) 

if you have two modems you need at least two phone lines and two internet 
accounts (accounts not a problem if i remember correctly that you use 
globalfreeway)
