Oh yeah, try ftoomsh with:
date --date="`date`"
and you will see how much sense it makes, it can't read back the
same date that it just printed out! I haven't tried this on Solaris
but probably the same bug is there if you use GNU date and some similar
bug if you use Solaris date.
