Actually, I would like it if LInux handled bad sectors in a smarter way
than it does. I've found that e2fs work like a dream on a good disc with a
reliable controller but once it starts getting errors, all hell breaks loose.

Sigh, guess I'll eventually think about fixing it myself if I can't
find someone else interested.
