[ProgSoc] Even more raw power
ProgSoc's new G3/300 was on backorder, and the reason for this became
apparent yesterday when a new line of G3s @nospam. 350/400/450MHz was announced.
This is great news, because we'll be getting a 350 for a 300 price, and as
Alister pointed out, the extra 1MB L2 cache makes a lot of difference.
Also we've made some progress on the MacOS licence issue. The very nice,
sweet souls at Bits'n'PCs have (tentatively) managed a $150+ discount, not
on the basis that they will bother wiping the hard drive, or even on the
basis that we promise to remove the software; but simply because we'll be
using the warm & fuzzy Linux operating system most of the time -- this
will quite possibly simplify the Linux installation process a lot, too.
