[ProgSoc] perl functions

I seem to be missing something vital here... i can't seem to find it in any
of my references...

I need a function allowing me to take a long digit number (around 10 or so
digits in length) and convert it to its hexadecimal equivalent... as hex()
converts hex to decimal, i know that isnt it... and i seem to be stuck as
pack() or unpack() deal with converting of lists... anyone have any ideas?
