The posters were dotted around the place at the time. I saw them
but I'd just recently sold my beloved Amiga 3000 for a few hundred dollars
and I couldn't face the idea of going back to the Amiga after that...
The thing is that linux offers almost the same multitasking, graphics
and sound capabilities that the Amiga once did and the capabilities of
linux are available on a wide range of hardware platforms. You can even
run it on Mac platforms (rendering them usable) if you like. I'll be the
first to agree that there were many great things about the Amiga but at
the end of the day, without source code to the OS you must lose at some
point in time. This is the one thing that the whole Amiga experience
taught me.
I still think that the whole concept of the Amiga was brilliant but the
day support dried up I was left cold. That simply cannot happen to me
with linux.
