They could change every 5 minutes in a completely random manner and it
shouldnt make any difference to anyone.  If you are writing scripts you
should NOT be using hard file references.  That is what auto mounters and
other similar systems are for, so that your home directory appears as
/home/username regardless of where it actually is, well either
/home/username of you want it to point to a particular users home
directory or ~/whatever if you want it to point to whichever users home
directory.
