www.aussie.net have a really fast net link and offer permanent dialup for
$300 a month for a 28.8k connection. When you think about it permanent
dialups or any other form of perm conn is expensive. You have to pay for a
telephone line, a modem, other connection equipment and then bandwidth
charges. Small ISPs in Australia pay around 15c for ever meg of traffic
they receive over telstra's network. If you download 100Meg, thats $15
worth of charges for them straight out. Course, they reduce what they pay
through various methods but its still an expensive business.
