[ProgSoc] Remote Booting Linux wstations
This looks like what we need:
http://www.cs.elte.hu/local/Linux-bible/NFS-Root/NFS-Root.html
haven't read it all yet, but it explains how to use RARP and how to mount
an nfs file systems as root. I think we need to setup a progsoc machine to
hold all the root file systems (although does this mean that we need a
seperate file system for each ITD pc, or can we use the same file system
for them all??- as an aside how does the SOCS setup handle this?) and
to act as a RARP server, if there isn't an ITD one already.
I guess the big question now, before we start getting really into it, is
can ProgSocNet support this? I.e. can we setup a RARP server and do we
have a machine with sufficient disk space for the nfs server? (and I
remember something in Raz's original note about the progsoc firewall, do
we have a firewall between progsoc and itd??)
