EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
Casual Computer Support Officer (Part time)
The School of Management in the Faculty of Business is establishing a
casual position to assist with the administration of a computerised
flexible learning program (currently TopClass). The position will initally
be offered for approximately two days per week on a casual basis. This may
be extended to a regular contract basis of three or more days a week,
including other support for computer based systems depending on the
workload. We will initially pay $19.55ph including a 15% casual loading. We
are looking for someone to start around the last week of June.
Duties:
Work closely with the responsible academic to ensure quality control and
maintenance of the School of Management's TopClass site including:
Assistance with database setup including creation of 'classes', 'courses',
folder layout etc;
Batch enrolments of students into classes at the commencement of semester;
Ongoing upload of html files eg. subject outlines, course notes, powerpoint
files etc;
Day-to-day maintenance of the site including cache of files, archiving,
general technical support to lecturers;
Assistance in maintenance of Management & Organisations online debate
including printing, filing, archiving;
Allocation of new accounts to P/T and F/T lecturers;
Other associated duties as required.
Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills needed:
Computing degree or progress towards completion of a degree with a
substantial component of software computing and programming;
Understanding of internet-based learning platforms such as Top Class and
Lotus Notes, the World Wide Web and other word processing packages;
Ability to work with HTML, JAVA and commonly used software applications
including databases and word processing packages;
Good written and interpersonal communications skills including the ability
to communicate technical information and concepts to non technical staff,
and to understand the requirements of non-technical staff and translate
these into workable technical solutions;
Ability to work quickly and accurately with attention to detail;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and to demonstrate
initiative.
