[ProgSoc] Lynx Downloading

In the recent few days I've had difficulty trying to download a file via
Lynx in the backgruond. In part it involved the pressing of "d" in order
to download... placing it in the background only seems to halt the
downloading process and gives Lynx the idea that the downloading has
completed... Is there any way that one can make the downloading procedure
continue whilst remaining in the background?
