}Having used Frontpage to try to make a simple page, I quickly began to
}viciously loathe it, and thus quickly switched to notepad (being on a
}windows machine at the time). The time taken to repetitively type out the
}tags is nothing compared to the time spent working out why your page
}doesn't look like it did on the editor or why the bloody computer crashed
}(and with all these macro text editors (vi, emacs) around, who needs to
}repetitively type out tags?).
you're missing the point of FP and other REAL web development tools.
in a word Maintenance.
You try editing either text, or links, or images, of alignment of objects
in a 100 page site using VI
you'll go nuckin' futs
And it'll take you 10 years :)
then again, it was just a simple page you were talking about....but it's
the principle
}As well as being 'cool', you can easily make sure that your page is
}viewable by all web browsers, not just Microbloodysoft's half-arsed
}effort. I'm sure that many of the people on this list would be happy to be
}able to view your page in lynx :P
actually pages developed in FP are viewable by most browsers (as much as
those you weave gy hand)
it's the server side of things which will hold you back, ie: you need FP
server extencsions to take full advantage of the powerful features of FP
oh, and if it makes some of you feel better, FP was not developed by
MS...that might to it's credability
as y'all might have guessed, i use FP98 every day......but i have also
hacked up 50 page sites (including Javascript, Java, flash and CSS by hand
using notepad and PFE)
