It's more complicated that that. About 5 different things can cause the
password to reset (or not be available to save at all). One of them is
not having any network logins at Windows startup, which means Windows gets
paranoid about not having anyone logging in at startup and doesn't let you
save passwords to disk. To find the culprit, it's a good idea to go
systematically through the list that Tech User in PC Magazine put
together. You'll find it on www.zdnet.com, and do a search for "dial-up,
password, ppp". It's a big article :)
