[ProgSoc] Getting Netscape 4 profiles to work at startup

 Howdi,

I didn't do the nerdity test . . but I am wondering if anyone has
managed to get the profiles under Netscape 4 to work. Well,
rather, it's the command-line parameter to select a particular
profile at startup, that's got me stumped. I've followed the
documentation, I've checked out the FAQ's on their site, and
I'm still not getting it working. This is under Win95, btw, and
 version 4.04 of Communicator.

Ostensibly you use the -P <profilename> - and it'll run
up the specified profile. I've tried putting the -P jedd in
quotes, without quotes, with quotes around "jedd", with
the quotes around the entire "c:/program files/navigator/... -P jedd"
construct, etc - and all it does is fail in different (and
rarely humorous) ways. I started to think it was the space
in the directory name 'program files' - but it's the default
location for install .. and I'm *sure* they tested that thoroughly.

Once I get that working.. (my bookmark files reside on a
samba mountpoint on a linux box), I want to try getting it
working on the linux version of netscape .. has anyone
had any problems with sharing bookmark.htm files between
the two operating systems - specifically ^M's at the end of
lines, etc, are a potential concern - as well as concurrent
 access of the bookmark files?

 Jedd.
